Dance Educator and Coach

Miss LandrawLanisha Landraw
, dance instructor, dance director, choreographer, and dance team coach is originally from Bronx, NY and started her formal dance training at the age of 8.  She is also nationally certified in Massage Therapy and Chinese Medicine, Aromatherapy, Reiki, and holds an Esthetician license.  During her early years of dance training she performed with the Express Success Dance Company and Dare to Be You in the Zone Dance Company in Bronx, NY.  She has trained in various dance disciplines, such as:  Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Contemporary, Jazz, Jazz-Funk, Hip Hop, Tap, Ballroom, African, and Ethnic Middle Eastern dance.

After moving to Virginia as a teenager, Lanisha was a featured guest performer in many of Regent University’s Dance Ensembles.   After graduating high school at the age of 16, she later graduated from Old Dominion University and holds a Bachelor of Science in Theatre & Dance with a Dance emphasis, a minor in Community Health, and a Master of Science in Secondary Education.  Lanisha also holds a degree from the Virginia School of Technology in Massage Therapy.  She has trained with many professionals via higher education courses, private sectors, master classes, and dance conventions, such as: Lacy Saunders, Marilyn Marloff, Kathryn Finney, Kevin McGhee, Ade Obayomi, Liz Imperio, Caitlin Kinney, Ryan Lohoff, and many more.

Lanisha Landraw has been teaching various methods of dance education for 20+ years, and devotes her time to sharing the wonderful art form, and all it has to enrich one’s life to others.  She has been with Churchland High School (CHS) for almost 10 years and has also volunteered her time and trained students outside of the classroom with the Churchland High School Dance Team known as the Churchland High School Truckettes.  During her career as a teacher, choreographer, and director, her students have performed and competed on the East Coast and have collectively won well over 200 awards while under her direction.  Her dedication to the school and students also had her nominated for Churchland High School’s Teacher of the Year twice, and in 2015 she was awarded the Teacher of the Year award.  Lanisha is sharing her passion for dance, kinesiology, health, and nutrition with the youth and is excited to continue to share all that the art form has to offer.
