Principal's Message

Shawn Millaci, PrincipalDear Parent/Guardian:

It’s hard to believe, but we only have eight weeks left in this school year.  It certainly has gone by quickly, and with all the activities planned for the final weeks, it will no doubt go by just as fast.

The month of May is a busy month.  SOL remediation is well underway in all subject areas. Transportation is available on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons for those who wish to take advantage of this opportunity.  Saturday school will be held on May 13, 20, and 27 from 8:00-11:00, with transportation provided. SOL testing for our seniors and retesters will begin May 15 with our regular testing beginning May 22.

On Monday, May 22, our regular SOL testing for enrolled (currently in the class Spring 2017) students will begin. Monday, May 22 - Friday, May 26 will be late arrival days.  We have followed the late arrival policy for the past few years, and it has worked quite well for our students.  Only students taking an SOL test in the morning SOL session will arrive to school by 7:20; all other students will arrive at 10:30.  Students arriving at 10:30 should be at their bus stops by 10:00. Please refer to the schedule below to see when your child is scheduled to take an SOL test.

Date Exam
Monday, 5/22  Algebra I & English Reading
Tuesday, 5/23   Algebra II & Geometry
Wednesday, 5/24  U.S. History & World History II
Thursday, 5/25  Earth Science & Biology
Friday, 5/26  World History I & Chemistry

If you have any questions about whether your student is scheduled to take an SOL on a particular day, please contact Mrs. Patricia McEwen, the SOL Testing Coordinator.

After the Memorial Day Holiday, our seniors will take their exams.  Senior exams will be given on May 30 and 31. More information will be given to seniors as those dates get closer.   The next week, the Class of 2017 will graduate on Thursday, June 8.  Our remaining students will complete their units of study and prepare for exams. June 14 will be an early release day (11:45 dismissal, and lunch will be served). Final exams are scheduled for June 15 and 16, which are both early release days (10:55 dismissal with no lunch served).

As you can see, there is a lot going on at Churchland High School.  We look forward to a fun, successful end to the school year.  Encourage your student to continue to work hard and not become victim to the dreaded “spring fever.”  If you have further questions or concerns, contact us at 686-2500.
